Meghan Berindean is an Associate Professor of Music at Austin Peay State University (Clarksville, Tennessee), where she has taught since 2016. She specializes in cello performance and pedagogy, maintaining active roles as Principal Cello of the Gateway Chamber Orchestra and Paducah Symphony Orchestra, and Assistant Principal of the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. She coordinates the string chamber music program at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival and teaches cello during its summer sessions.
Her performance career includes solo engagements with orchestras such as the Nashville Ballet, Northern Tier Symphony, and Florida State University Symphony, alongside chamber music collaborations with ensembles like the Eppes Quartet and Judson Quartet. She advocates for new music through her work with Nashville’s Intersection ensemble and has held leadership roles in orchestras across the U.S., including Sinfonia Gulf Coast and Williamsport Symphony.
Berindean’s education includes a Doctor of Music in Cello Performance from Florida State University (dissertation on Bohuslav Martinů’s cello works), a Master of Music from Cleveland Institute of Music, and a Bachelor of Music with a Professional Performance Certificate from Pennsylvania State University. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes both performance excellence and community engagement, reflected in her outreach initiatives such as the Sykora Grant-funded school and assisted living facility programs.
Accolades include the MENC Pennsylvania State Chamber Group Competition First Prize (Valens Piano Quartet) and recognition for her dynamic performances and pedagogical contributions.
