Megan Sesma serves as Adjunct Associate Professor of Music at Connecticut College since 2011, specializing in harp performance. She additionally teaches at the University of Connecticut and Wesleyan University while maintaining an active performance career as the first enlisted principal harpist with the United States Coast Guard Band—a position created specifically for her in February 2003 after being absent since the band's 1925 founding.
Ms. Sesma earned her B.A. in Music from Eastman School of Music and B.A. in Economics from University of Rochester, followed by M.A. in Harp Performance from New York University. Her professional performance venues span Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, and concert halls across South America.
She has performed under legendary conductors including Neeme Jarvi, Yuri Temirkanov, John Williams, and Jerry Goldsmith, sharing stages with Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Diana Krall, and Dianne Reeves. Beyond the Coast Guard Band, she substitutes with New Haven Symphony, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Hartford Symphony, and other regional orchestras.

Her teaching occurs within Connecticut College's Music Department at Cummings Arts Center, part of the college's all-Steinway campus featuring Cummings Electronic and Digital Sound Studio and Elizabeth Gilbert Fortune Recording Studio.
