معرفی
Dr Megan Ryan is a Professor leading the Agriculture Department at the UWA School of Agriculture and Environment. Her research focuses on sustainable farming systems, particularly annual pasture legumes, phosphorus nutrition, and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). She has pioneered studies on Mucoromycotinian AMF, revealing their prevalence in agricultural systems. Current projects include subterranean clover seed harvesting innovations, organic waste transformation into fertilizers, and the ALBA Joint Venture with DLF Seeds. Ryan also heads the Transforming Biosolids ARC Training Centre. Teaching includes courses on global agriculture, pasture systems, and plant physiology.
Her work addresses UN SDGs related to sustainable agriculture and environmental protection. Key research areas include rhizosphere processes, root morphology, and phosphorus-efficient pastures. Notable grants include projects on soil carbon innovation, plant-fungal symbiosis, and safer pasture development. Ryan has published over 190 articles, with recent studies on soil carbon dynamics, honey bee stability through legumes, and fungal primers for AMF diversity.
Her contributions span 48 grants, including ARC-funded initiatives and industry partnerships. Media coverage highlights her work on oestrogenic subclover management and seed harvesting techniques. Ryan’s research bridges agricultural innovation with ecological sustainability, emphasizing practical applications for farming systems.
