Dr. Megan Nethercote is a Senior Lecturer and ARC DECRA Fellow at RMIT University's School of PCPM. Her work bridges housing policy, urban development, and critical geography, with a focus on high-rise living, housing financialization, and Indigenous housing policy. She holds a dual background in architecture and social sciences, contributing to policy-relevant research across journals like the International Journal of Housing Policy, which she co-edits.
Research interests include the political economy of housing, lived experiences in vertical cities, and the intersection of housing, technology, and data. Awards include the ARC DECRA (2020), RMIT Vice Chancellor’s Fellowship (2017), and a Malcolm Moore Award (2016). She has advised on projects like the Evaluating Design Quality Assessment of Apartments.
Her work addresses systemic inequalities in housing markets and advocates for socially responsible urban policies. Recent outputs analyze UK single-family rental monopolies, platform landlord data practices, and housing’s role in inequality reduction.
