Megan Mueller is an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow at the Jackson School of Geosciences, The University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on reconstructing ancient subduction zones and continental collisions using sedimentary rocks, integrating field work, sedimentology, stratigraphy, and geochronology techniques such as detrital geo-/thermo-/petrochronology. She explores geodynamic links between tectonics, topography, magmatism, and biogeography through ancient sedimentary basins.
Her expertise spans sedimentary basin analysis, detrital chronology methods, and orogenic evolution, with a focus on Anatolia and the Andes. Key research locations include Central Anatolia, western Anatolia, and the Acadian Basin in Pennsylvania. She has contributed to understanding continental collision processes, proto-plateau development, and the interplay between tectonics and climate.
Mueller’s work has been recognized through the NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship, highlighting her contributions to geodynamic modeling and provenance analysis. Her research bridges field observations with advanced analytical techniques, offering novel insights into Earth’s surface and deep processes.
