Dr. Megan Lee is an Assistant Professor at Bond University's Faculty of Society & Design and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Southern Cross University's Faculty of Education. She holds a PhD in Nutritional Psychiatry from Southern Cross University (awarded June 2022) and a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) from Central Queensland University (awarded November 2017). Dr. Lee serves as Secretary of the International Society of Nutritional Psychiatry Research (ISNPR) and Chair of the local organizing committee for the 2025 Australasian Society for Behavioural Health and Medicine (ASBHM) conference.
Her research spans nutritional psychiatry, diet and mental health, body image, and eating patterns. Dr. Lee has published extensively on dietary patterns and depression, plant-based diets and mental health, postpartum intuitive eating, body image satisfaction, and occupational stress in academics. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and wellbeing.
Dr. Lee's recent publications reveal a strong focus on the intersection of nutrition and mental health, particularly examining how dietary patterns affect depression and anxiety. Her research employs diverse methodologies including cross-sectional analyses, qualitative explorations, and systematic reviews, with a particular emphasis on women's health across different life stages from postpartum to older adulthood.
Dr. Lee actively supervises multiple students including Sofia McAuley, Charlotte Target, Jodie Muldoon, Kat Skender, Valeria Chavez, and Carl Hotko. She has received significant media attention for her expertise, with 20 press/media appearances including ABC Radio and multiple news outlets.
Her professional activities include committee memberships, invited talks, oral presentations, and non-HDR student supervision. Dr. Lee has been involved with the Australasian Society for Behavioural Health and Medicine since February 2023 and has served as Secretary of the International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Research since March 2023.
