Deakin Distinguished Professor Felice Jacka is a leading figure in Nutritional Psychiatry at Deakin University's School of Medicine, affiliated with the Institute for Mental and Physical Health and Clinical Translation. She founded the Food & Mood Centre and serves as Immediate-Past President of the International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Research (ISNPR). Her research focuses on dietary and lifestyle influences on mental health, with a particular emphasis on gut microbiota mechanisms. She holds the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) and is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher.
Education: PhD in Psychiatric Epidemiology from the University of Melbourne (2008), Postgraduate Diploma in Science, and Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) from RMIT. She leads a team of researchers and HDR students, overseeing over 50 active grants including NHMRC-funded trials and industry partnerships.
Research Interests: Nutritional interventions for depression/anxiety, diet-microbiota interactions, and public health strategies to address mental disorders. Key projects include the CALM trial (online lifestyle therapy vs. psychotherapy) and the GLAD Project (estimating mental disorder burden from lifestyle factors).
