Megan Kragness is a Lecturer in the Business Department at the University of Minnesota Crookston, where she teaches undergraduate courses in Management both on-campus and online. She has been teaching courses including Principles of Management, Supervision and Leadership, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Change Creativity and Innovation Management, and Strategic Management.
Her educational background includes:
- B.S. in Business Administration with a Major in Management and a Minor in Management Information Systems from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, MN
- M.S. in Human Resource Management from the University of Scranton in Scranton, PA
Megan Kragness has extensive expertise in Human Resource Management, Supervision, Leadership, Management, and Organizational Behavior. With over 18 years of management experience across retail and higher education sectors, she brings practical insights to her teaching. She particularly emphasizes the connection between real-world business challenges and academic concepts, drawing from her experience as the daughter of business owners who have operated a small town bar and grill for over 44 years. Her teaching philosophy focuses on flexibility for working students and integrating students' real-life experiences into classroom learning.

As an Academic and Faculty Advisor for the Management program, Megan has advised numerous students pursuing management degrees. She served as the Online Teaching Fellow at the University of Minnesota Crookston from 2020-2022 and has been actively involved in various university committees including the Faculty Engagement Committee, Management Search Committee, and Online Course Quality Assurance Committee (where she served as Chair). Her professional memberships include the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Academy of Management, and ACBSP Accreditation.
Megan previously worked as the Manager of Student Finance at a private college, where she assisted students in determining the best ways to pay for college. She is passionate about continuous improvement in education and has participated in initiatives like the Charrette Workshop to enhance teaching practices across the University of Minnesota system.
