Megan Durr

Megan Durr, MD, FACS is an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Interim Chief of Otolaryngology at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, part of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She specializes in surgery for sleep apnea and snoring, including drug-induced sleep endoscopy, soft palate surgery, and hypoglossal nerve stimulation. Dr. Durr also holds leadership roles such as Residency Site Director and Director of Quality for her department.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University
• MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
• Otolaryngology residency at UCSF

Research Interests: Her work focuses on surgical outcomes for sleep apnea therapies, healthcare access to sleep surgery, and graduate medical education. She has received grants from Kaiser Permanente and authored numerous publications on topics like surgical techniques, patient outcomes, and medical education. Her research also explores sex differences in sleep apnea and quality improvement initiatives.

Leadership & Awards: Dr. Durr serves as an Associate Editor for the Laryngoscope and on the governing board of Women in Otolaryngology. She has been awarded teaching fellowships and has been recognized for her contributions to surgical education and patient safety. Her leadership includes roles in residency curriculum design and national committees.
