Meg Streepey-Smith, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at Earlham College. She is affiliated with the Honors Program and the 3-2 Pre-Engineering Program. Her work emphasizes involving students in research, leading to national conference presentations. She previously directed Earlham’s New Zealand off-campus program, focusing on field geology, biology, and cultural exploration with her family.

Her research interests include the evolution of Precambrian mountain systems, the mechanics of mountain formation and erosion, and pedagogical strategies in geoscience education. Published works focus on student-driven research, including studies of anorthosite petrology, trace metal contamination in Richmond’s water systems, and sediment core analysis. Her teaching philosophy integrates fieldwork and community-based environmental science.
