Meg Mills-Novoa is Assistant Professor at UC Berkeley's Environmental Science, Policy, & Management department and Director of the Climate Futures Lab. Her research examines the political ecology of climate adaptation and energy transitions, particularly in the Arid Americas region.
Work focuses on how climate projects reshape socio-ecological relationships, with ethnographic research in Andean communities examining how adaptation initiatives interact with agrarian struggles. Recent publications analyze post-project sustainability of adaptation interventions and deforestation modeling in the Amazon.
Leads research on community-based evaluation of adaptation outcomes and develops participatory methods for assessing long-term project impacts. Mentors graduate students working on environmental governance and justice issues across the Americas.
