Meena Krishnamurthy is an Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Philosophy at Queen’s University, Faculty of Arts and Science. She previously held positions at the University of Michigan (Philosophy and Philosophy, Politics, Economics), University of Manitoba, and Dalhousie University. She earned a BAH from Western University, MA from University of Toronto, and PhD from Cornell University.
Her research focuses on social/political philosophy with specialization in Africana and Indian political thought, exploring emotions in nonviolent activism (e.g., Martin Luther King Jr.'s philosophy), democratic theory, racial justice, and decolonizing political theory. She authored The Emotions of Nonviolence (2025) and These are Times That Grow Our Souls: The Remarkable Life of Grace Lee Boggs (forthcoming).
Her work appears in Political Theory, Journal of Moral Philosophy, and Hypatia. She co-founded Philosopher to amplify underrepresented voices and created the Inclusive Bibliography on Race, Gender, and Related Topics. She frequently engages public audiences through podcasts (Examining Ethics, Unmute) and media outlets like Boston Review and Aeon.
