Meelan Thondoo is a Senior Research Associate at the MRC Epidemiology Unit within the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine. Her research bridges medical anthropology and environmental epidemiology to address urban health challenges at the intersection of climate change and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
- Education: BSc in Biology (University of Geneva), MSc in Medical Anthropology (University College London), MPH in Health Economics (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine)
Meelan specializes in transdisciplinary health impact assessments (HIAs) and mixed-method tools to combat health inequalities in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Her work focuses on exposure pathways like air pollution, heat, blue/green spaces, and urban food systems. She also designs policy-oriented HIA models, including the first urban transport planning HIA framework for Africa.
