Meagan Mauter is an Associate Professor at Stanford University, holding appointments in the Photon Science Directorate and by courtesy in Civil & Environmental Engineering and Chemical Engineering. She is a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment and the Precourt Institute for Energy. Her research focuses on sustainable water supply through advanced desalination technologies, water-energy policy, and circular water economy strategies. She directs the Water and Energy Efficiency for the Environment Lab (WE3Lab) and leads the National Alliance for Water Innovation (NAWI), a $110M DOE initiative.
Education: B.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering and History (Rice University), M.S. in Environmental Engineering (Rice University), Ph.D. in Chemical and Environmental Engineering (Yale University).
Research interests include A-PRIME water desalination, decarbonized water-energy systems, and policy design. Notable awards include the Walter L. Huber Research Prize and the Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering Lectureship.
Advisees include doctoral students Sinan Abi Farraj and Akshay Rao, among others. Her work spans lab innovations, policy engagement, and large-scale initiatives like NAWI.
