Md Shahadath Hossain is an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the Department of Economics. He earned his Ph.D. from Binghamton University and focuses on policy-oriented research in Applied Microeconomics, with emphasis on Development Economics, Labor Economics, and Health Economics.

- Key projects: Child malnutrition, safety net programs for informal sector workers, intergenerational poverty persistence
His work includes empirical analyses of cash transfer programs like India's Janani Suraksha Yojana and Burkina Faso's National Vaccination Commando Program. He has published in journals such as Journal of Development Studies and Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization. Current projects include the $7.9M PEMS Bangladesh initiative to combat climate change-induced human trafficking.
Mentored students from Ease West University, Binghamton University, and the University of Houston. Teaches courses including Principles of Microeconomics, Labor Economics, and Applied Econometrics.
