Małgorzata Karkocha

Małgorzata Karkocha is a habilitated doctor of humanities in history and Professor at the Department of Early Modern History within the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the University of Lodz. She holds a dual role as both a university professor and as editorial secretary for the University's scientific journals 'Review of Historical Sciences' and 'Acta Universitatis Lodziensis. Folia Historica.'

She graduated with distinction in art history in 2002 and history in 2005 from the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the University of Lodz. In 2011, she defended her doctoral dissertation titled 'The Image of France in the Age of Revolution in the Warsaw Press from 1789–1794' under Professor Zbigniew Anusik's supervision. In June 2023, she was awarded the habilitated doctor degree in history by the University of Lodz Committee for Academic Degrees.

Her research focuses primarily on early modern European history with special emphasis on France during the Revolutionary period, the history of Polish press during the Stanisław August period, the Great Eastern War (1787-1792), and regional history including epigraphy and historical sacred bells. Her work demonstrates a strong connection between political history, cultural studies, and media analysis.

Analysis of her publications reveals a consistent scholarly trajectory examining how historical events were perceived and reported in contemporary media, particularly focusing on international relations and cross-cultural perceptions during the late 18th century. Her work bridges traditional historical research with media studies, offering nuanced perspectives on how historical narratives were constructed.

As an educator, Professor Karkocha supervises bachelor's and master's theses while conducting regular consultations for students. She also plays a significant role in academic publishing as the editorial secretary overseeing the publishing process of the 'Review of Historical Sciences' journal.
