Professor Maya H Buch is a clinical professor at the University of Leeds, Faculty of Medicine and Health, School of Medicine, and is affiliated with the Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine (LIRMM) at Chapel Allerton Hospital. She holds a primary appointment as Professor of Rheumatology and Director of Experimental Medicine at the University of Manchester and is designated as a Visiting Professor of Rheumatology at Leeds. Her work bridges clinical practice and translational research in rheumatology.
Research Interests: Her research spans clinical and experimental medicine in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), with a focus on stratification of targeted therapies and refractory RA. She investigates cardiovascular pathology in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMID) and leads the 'CARDIO-AID' program. Her work in systemic sclerosis (SSc) includes studying primary myocardial involvement and novel therapies, exemplified by the 'ELCASA' study using implantable loop recorders and cardiac MRI.
