Maximiliane Gindele is a doctoral researcher at the University of Tübingen's Department of History, Institute of Ancient History, specializing in Roman history and urban sociology. Her work focuses on the temporal multilayeredness of cityscapes in ancient Rome, particularly how architectural time layers were perceived and described by late Republican to early Imperial authors. She is supported by a Doctoral Scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
- B.A. in History and Classical Archaeology (University of Tübingen, 2015–2018)
- M.A. in History (University of Tübingen, 2016–2020)
- Doctoral Studies in Ancient History (University of Tübingen, since January 2021)
Her research explores how ancient authors represented architecture across different temporal layers (past, present, future, and hypothetical cityscapes) in literary texts. This includes analyzing interrelations between urban transformations, political discourses, and time concepts in Rome's late Republic and Imperial period.
Gindele's submitted article on open spaces as mnemonic sites in Republican Rome reflects her focus on spatial memory and architectural symbolism. Her work intersects with urban history, cultural studies, and literary analysis.
- Doctoral Scholarship, German Academic Scholarship Foundation (2022–present)
Gindele has participated in academic workshops like the Tübingen International Early Career Workshop (2024) and contributed to exhibitions at the Institute of Ancient History. She has mentored students in state examinations and Master of Education programs since 2021.
