Stephane BENOIST

Stéphane Benoist is a Professor at the History Department of the Faculty of Humanities at University of Lille. His research focuses on Roman history from the late Republican to Imperial periods (1st century BC–4th century AD), specializing in imperial power representations, political identities, and ancient epigraphy.

• Responsibilities: Former general secretary of Revue historique, Co-directed UMR HALMA until 2020, Member of CNRS delegation (2020-2021)

Awards & Editorial Roles: Recipient of the Dèzes Prize for his thesis, Editorial board member of Impact of Empire collection (Brill). His 2020 monograph Power in Rome systematically analyzes imperial authority through urban space, ceremonial practices, and normative power frameworks.
