Prof. Dr. Maximilian Bühler serves as Professor of Practical Theology I at Reutlingen Theological College since October 2023, following his role as Pastor of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Darmstadt/Dreieich district (2021-2023) and research positions at Heidelberg University.
His educational foundation includes:
- Doctorate in Theology from Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg (2022)
- Protestant Theology studies at Mainz, Heidelberg, Copenhagen, Yale, and THR (2009-2016)
His research centers on Casual theory (particularly funeral practice), Church theory and reform, and Qualitative social research methodologies including conversation analysis and participant observation, with applied focus on Homiletics, Liturgy, and Pastoral care. He examines religious discourse dynamics through empirical fieldwork in congregational settings.
His scholarly recognition includes:
