Maxim Nekrasov is a Researcher and Team Leader (Sequencing) at the Biomolecular Resource Facility (BRF) within the John Curtin School of Medical Research at the Australian National University (ANU). He holds a PhD from EMBL-Heidelberg and an MSc from Krasnoyarsk State University. His research focuses on chromatin structure, epigenetics, and next-generation sequencing technologies, with particular emphasis on histone variants and their roles in gene regulation and immune cell biology.
Research Interests: The dynamics of histone variants such as H2A.Z, their impact on promoter architecture, and their involvement in immune responses (e.g., B and T cell functions). He also explores genome 3D organization and its dysregulation in diseases like cancer. His work integrates experimental and computational approaches to dissect chromatin regulation in human cells.
Collaborations & Projects: Led the ANU project The Special Role of Histone Variants in Regulating the Inheritance and 3D Genome Organization (2016–2020). Collaborates internationally on vaccine immunology and infectious disease research, including studies on atypical B cells in human immunity.
Labs & Facilities: Manages the BRF Sequencing Facility, which supports genomic and epigenomic analyses for ANU researchers. His lab contributes to methodological advancements in chromatin profiling and immunology.
