Maxim Mai is a Research Professor of Physics at the University of Bern, affiliated with the Albert Einstein Center for Fundamental Physics. He holds adjunct roles at The George Washington University and is a Privatdozent at the University of Bonn. His research focuses on non-perturbative phenomena in quantum chromodynamics (QCD), particularly excited states of strongly interacting matter. Key interests include lattice QCD, effective field theories, quantization conditions for multi-particle systems, and applications of machine learning in physics.
His work bridges theoretical approaches with experimental data and lattice simulations, notably deriving the three-body quantization condition in QCD and exploring resonance dynamics. Mai's research also involves global data-driven analyses of baryon transitions and chiral extrapolation techniques.
Publications highlight contributions to hadron spectroscopy, including studies of the Λ(1405) resonance and multi-particle systems. Collaborations span institutions like the Albert Einstein Center, George Washington University, and Bonn, reflecting his interdisciplinary and international engagement.
