Maxim Kontsevich is a Permanent Professor at the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHÉS) since 1995. He has held visiting positions at institutions including the University of California at Berkeley (1993-1995), Harvard University (1991-1992), and the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik (1993-1994). His work bridges mathematics, physics, and geometry, with a focus on string theory, quantum field theory, and non-commutative geometry.
His research spans topics such as homological mirror symmetry, deformation quantization, and motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants. Recent publications include groundbreaking work on WDVV equations, non-archimedean analytic spaces, and the interplay between algebraic geometry and quantum field theory.
