Mauro Pucheta is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Kent’s Kent Law School, where he joined in September 2022. Previously, he held academic positions at Kingston University London (2019–2022) and the University of Gloucestershire (2017–2019). During his PhD at the University of Nottingham (completed in 2019), he was a Visiting Researcher at Harvard University’s Institute for Global Law and Policy (2016–2017). Prior to academia, he practiced employment law in Argentina (2007–2009 and 2013–2014) and served as a teaching assistant in EU Labour Law at Université Paris 1-Sorbonne (2012) and Argentine/South American Labour Law at Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (2007–2009).
His research focuses on three key areas: (1) Labour Rights and Human Rights, examining how the Inter-American Court of Human Rights strengthens workers’ rights through transformative constitutionalism, particularly for informal and vulnerable groups; (2) Just Transition and Workers’ Rights, analyzing its suitability for Global South countries amid climate crises and informal economies; and (3) International Labour Standards and Regional Trade Blocs, exploring Mercosur and EU frameworks to protect workers in neoliberal contexts. He also engages with comparative law, platform economy challenges, and Global South perspectives on legal integration.
Mauro is a member of professional organizations such as the Society of Legal Scholars (UK) and the Industrial Law Society (UK), and serves as External Examiner for Roehampton University’s LLB Programme. He collaborates with the United Nations on socio-labour topics, including a monograph on just transitions and informal workers (2023). His work bridges legal scholarship with practical policy analysis, emphasizing regional integration’s role in advancing equitable labour standards.
