Dr. Maurits de Jongh is an Assistant Professor at the Ethics Institute, part of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Utrecht University. His research focuses on the political philosophy of public goods and the ethics of public administration, exploring how state power promotes justice, efficiency, and democracy. He holds a PhD from Sciences Po (2019) and has held roles including postdoctoral researcher at Goethe University Frankfurt, lecturer at Leiden University, and Fox Fellow at Yale University. He co-directs PPE Utrecht and teaches courses on the welfare state and ethics in public policy.
His expertise spans Philosophy, Political Theory, Ethics, and the Welfare State, with research themes in Institutions for Open Societies. He has published on topics like public goods justification, civil servant ethics, and critiques of political liberalism.
