Mario I. Juarez-Garcia is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Tulane University, affiliated with the Center for Ethics and the Undergraduate Program in Political Economy. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Arizona, a Master en Sciences Sociales from Ecoles des Hautes en Sciences Sociales (Paris), and a Licenciatura en Filosofia from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico.
His research focuses on ethics, political and social philosophy through the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) framework. Key interests include political corruption, the rule of law, the state, and early modern political philosophy. He also engages with topics like moral discourse and open borders. Recent work analyzes bureaucratic responses to unjust laws and institutional corruption.
Based at the Murphy Institute (Tilton Hall, New Orleans), his scholarship bridges theoretical ethics with contemporary governance challenges. He collaborates with Alexander Schaefer on projects like 'Public Servants' and Rousseau's state of nature theories.
