Maureen Barry is a Lecturer at the University of Toronto's Department of Nursing, recognized for pioneering work in simulation-based education, experiential learning, and integrating emerging technologies into teaching. She is celebrated for her innovative approaches in nursing education and dedication to student mentorship. Her expertise spans Web-based learning systems and fostering technological adoption among undergraduates.
Committed to global health equity, Barry directed a healthcare clinic in Kenya for three years and practiced nursing in Ethiopia for two. Recent sabbaticals were spent in Zimbabwe and South Africa, reflecting her focus on resource-constrained healthcare systems. She has been honored with the Council of Ontario University Programs in Nursing Teaching Innovation Award and multiple University of Toronto Nursing teaching awards, acknowledging her exceptional commitment to education and student development.
