Maura Janton Cock is an Adjunct Professor of Music – Voice at Valparaiso University. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Arizona and a Master of Arts from Minnesota State University-Moorhead. Prior to her current role, she taught at Concordia College (Moorhead).
Her performance career includes engagements with the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, Tucson Symphony, Southwest Michigan Symphony, and Northwest Indiana Symphony. She has collaborated with renowned figures like Robert Shaw and Helmuth Rilling, performing major works such as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, and Bach’s St. John Passion and Mass in B Minor. In 2005, she premiered J.S. Bach’s lost aria Alles mit Gott und nichts ohn’ ihn at Valpo.
She has contributed to Valparaiso University’s theater department, providing musical direction for productions like Cabaret and vocal direction for Dido and Aeneas. Her work spans opera, choral music, and musical theater, reflecting her expertise in vocal performance and education.
Professor Cock is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). Her teaching and performance activities emphasize classical vocal techniques, choral collaboration, and interdisciplinary arts integration.
