Prof. Matthias Smalbrugge is a Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in Religious History and Heritage. His research focuses on Augustinian theology, Reformation studies, cultural wars, and the intersection of religion with modernity. He actively contributes to interdisciplinary projects like FOAT: The Future of Theology as an Academic Discipline, exploring theology's role in contemporary academia.
Smalbrugge teaches courses such as Bijbel en blasfemie and Radical Reformation, combining historical analysis with theological inquiry.
