Matthias Heyman is a Professor specializing in Artistic Research History, Archeology, Arts, Philosophy and Ethics at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He currently serves as Lecturer at Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (since 2021), following his tenure as Postdoctoral Researcher (2021-2023) and current position as Guest Professor at LUCA School of Arts (2023-2024).
His research spans multiple interconnected domains:
- Jazz studies with particular focus on Belgian jazz history
- Historically informed performance practices
- The Beatles and popular music culture
- Clown theory and humor in musical contexts
- Music iconography and cultural studies
Heyman's scholarly fingerprint reveals exceptional concentration on The Beatles (100%) and Jazz (83%), with significant contributions to Historically Informed Performance (29%), Icon studies (24%), and Clown theory (24%).
