Matthias Forell

Dr. Matthias Forell is a Professor of Educational Science with a focus on Inclusion at the University of Osnabrück since the winter semester 2024/25. Previously, he held interim professorships in Schulpädagogik at the Universities of Hamburg (2024) and Oldenburg (2022–2023). His research focuses on educational transitions, equity, and socially oriented school development processes. He leads interdisciplinary projects such as the IKOM Räume initiative and serves as a scientific advisor for programs like Startchancen and Lehrkräfte stärken. His work bridges theory and practice, emphasizing resource-oriented approaches to address educational inequality.

Education:

• PhD in Education from Ruhr University Bochum (2016–2020)
• M.A. in School Management and Quality Development (Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel)
• M.A. in Ethnology and Anthropogeography (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen)

Research Interests: Educational equity, socio-spatial dimensions of schooling, inclusive education, policy analysis, and cooperative school development.
