معرفی
Matthias T. Agne is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Oregon, where he leads the Agne Lab (est. 2023). His research combines theoretical, computational, and experimental approaches to study thermodynamic and microscopic principles in energy and environmental materials. Affiliated with the Materials Science Institute, Oregon Center for Electrochemistry, and Physics Department, he focuses on solid-state batteries, thermoelectrics, and quantum materials.
- Education:
- B.S./M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering, Drexel University (2015), under Michel W. Barsoum
- Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Northwestern University (2020), under G. Jeffrey Snyder
- Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Münster (2020-2023), under Wolfgang G. Zeier
The lab investigates atomic vibrational dynamics and transport phenomena in solids, aiming to mitigate interfacial instabilities in electrochemical systems. Recent work includes collaborations on 'The Sound of Solids' project, translating terahertz atomic vibrations into audible sound, and a paper on heat capacity (2025).
Scientific Recognition
- Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship
Agne mentors Ph.D. students (Zöe Johnson, Elana Cope, Alex Dillard, Nathaniel Skeele), an M.S. student (Arya Saboori-Amleshi), and collaborates across disciplines, including with Jon Bellona (School of Music and Dance). His work addresses global environmental challenges through sustainable technology innovation.
