Xiaolong Feng

Xiaolong Feng is a Humboldt Fellow and Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids in Dresden, Germany. He works within the Topological Quantum Chemistry department under the supervision of Prof. Maia G. Vergniory and in the research group of Prof. Claudia Felser.

Dr. Feng's research focuses on condensed matter physics, particularly on Charge Density Waves (CDW) in quantum materials. His work investigates the fundamental mechanisms driving CDW formation in layered transition metal chalcogenides (TMDs), their heterostructures, and emergent Kagome materials. He explores the interplay between CDW states and other quantum phenomena such as superconductivity and magnetism, with particular interest in chiral CDW states that emerge when inversion or mirror symmetries are broken. His research aims to predict possible CDW transitions, understand their driving forces, and examine how lattice and electronic density modulations manifest in phonon spectra and charge susceptibility.
