Matthew Voice is an Assistant Professor (Teaching Focused) in the Department of Applied Linguistics at the University of Warwick. His research integrates critical and literary linguistics with cognitive linguistic frameworks, focusing on discourse analysis of military narratives, forensic stylistics, and AI in academic writing. He holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield (2018), funded by the Wolfson Foundation, exploring soldiers' discursive constructions of violence.

Research Interests: Dr. Voice applies cognitive linguistic models to analyze agency, intentionality, and responsibility in discourse, particularly in military autobiographies and drone warfare narratives. Current projects include critical linguistic perspectives on AI in academic writing and forensic stylistics.
Professional Activities: Co-leads a WIHEA working group on AI ethics in student writing. Serves as Head of Academic Integrity for Applied Linguistics at Warwick. Previously taught at Sheffield, Liverpool, and De Montfort Universities.
