Matthew Triplette

Matthew Triplette, MD, MPH, serves as Associate Professor at University of Washington School of Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, holding dual appointments in Public Health Sciences and Clinical Research Divisions. He directs Lung Cancer Screening and Living Tobacco Free Services programs at Fred Hutch.

Dr. Triplette's research centers on lung cancer screening implementation, with emphasis on reducing disparities and identifying barriers/facilitators in underserved populations. His work extends to lung disease in immunosuppressed patients (HIV/organ transplant recipients) and community-based screening for high-risk groups. Current investigations examine racial disparities in coronary artery disease and chronic lung conditions among HIV patients.

He leads two major initiatives: COALS (Community-based Outcomes and Adherence for Lung Cancer Screening) and PEARLS (Patient Experiences with Adherence and navigation Resources in Lung Cancer Screening). As a PATCHES Lab faculty member, he focuses on tobacco-related health disparities in LGBTQ+ communities, with recent work featured in Hutch News and Science Spotlight covering multi-cancer detection tests and sexual orientation/gender identity data applications in cancer care.
