Manoj P. Menon is an Associate Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine and holds concurrent roles at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch). He serves as Director of Clinical Education and Deputy Director of the Cancer Research and Training Education Coordination Program at Fred Hutch/University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Cancer Consortium. He also directs the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Washington.
Dr. Menon’s education includes an MD from the University of North Carolina (2002), residency at the University of Washington (2005), and fellowships in Hematology/Oncology (2014) and Epidemiology at the CDC (2007).
His research focuses on HIV-associated malignancies, cancer characteristics in low-income countries (e.g., Uganda), and breast cancer molecular profiling. Notably, he documented earlier cancer staging in Ugandan patients with HIV and cancer, inspiring efforts to leverage HIV clinical infrastructure for cancer screening. He also investigates anemia’s role in lymphoma prognosis and evaluates diagnostic/therapeutic options for Ugandan breast cancer patients.
Dr. Menon holds the Scripps Endowed Professorship in Hematology at UW Medicine and has secured a $5.25M grant from the Kuni Foundation for adult oncology research. His collaborations include the Uganda Cancer Institute and Aga Khan University for global health initiatives.
