Matthew Salesses

Matthew Salesses is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at the Department of English, College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, Virginia Tech. His work focuses on reimagining writing pedagogy through lenses of cultural diversity and inclusion.

• Author of eight books including the national bestseller Craft in the Real World (2021) and The Sense of Wonder (2023)
• Research interests span Asian American masculinity, marginalized storytelling traditions, and anti-racist writing workshops
• Recipient of awards from PEN/Faulkner Foundation, Dublin Literary Award, and Buzzfeed's 32 Essential Asian American Writers
