Matthew Route

Matthew Route is a continuing lecturer of physics and astronomy at Purdue University and an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Mississippi. He specializes in stellar astrophysics and planetary science, focusing on magnetism and magnetic activity in planets, brown dwarfs, and low-mass stars. His research leverages radio emission observations to analyze temporal, spectral, and polarimetric properties of celestial objects. Route holds a Ph.D. in astronomy and astrophysics (with a computational science minor) from Pennsylvania State University (2013). Prior to his current roles, he served as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Mississippi (2022-2023) and a senior computational scientist at Purdue University (2015-2021). His work has significantly contributed to the ROME (Radio Observations of Magnetized Exoplanets) project, exploring star-planet interactions and radio flaring phenomena in ultracool dwarfs.

Route's contributions include over 30 peer-reviewed articles since 2001, emphasizing both fundamental astrophysics and technological innovations in radio astronomy.
