معرفی
Matthew Rodeheffer is a Professor in the Department of Comparative Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, with a secondary appointment in Cellular & Molecular Physiology. He is affiliated with multiple interdisciplinary research centers including the Yale Diabetes Research Center, Yale Stem Cell Center, Yale Cancer Center, and Women's Health Research at Yale.
Education:
- PhD, Emory University (2002)
- Postdoctoral Fellow, HHMI, Rockefeller University (2008)
- BS, University of Washington, Seattle (1997)
His research focuses on the molecular regulation of adipose tissue, particularly adipocyte progenitor and stem cells, and their roles in obesity and metabolic disorders. He employs mouse models, human primary cell cultures, and genomic techniques to investigate how fat mass is regulated. His work has significant implications for developing novel therapeutics for obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
The recent publication trends show a strong emphasis on adipogenesis, depot-specific fat development, transcriptional regulation (e.g., ETS, LXRα), and the metabolic heterogeneity of adipocyte precursors. His studies integrate developmental biology, metabolism, and molecular signaling to uncover fundamental mechanisms in fat biology.
Scientific Awards:
- Helmholtz Young Investigator in Diabetes (2015)
- American Diabetes Association Junior Faculty Award (2012)
Dr. Rodeheffer leads the Rodeheffer Lab, which actively contributes to interdisciplinary research through collaborations with experts in stem cells, metabolism, and cancer. His lab is supported by major institutional programs and participates in events hosted by the Yale Center for Molecular and Systems Metabolism (YMSM). He mentors trainees and contributes to the academic mission through research, publications, and scientific engagement.
