Matthew R. Metzgar

Matthew R. Metzgar is a Clinical Professor of Economics at the Belk College of Business, University of North Carolina Charlotte. He teaches undergraduate and MBA courses and has prior teaching experience in Ohio and New York. His professional background includes private-sector work.

Research focuses on obesity economics, instructional method efficacy, public finance, and food production sustainability. Current projects include a Gambrell Faculty Fellowship examining employee ownership's impact on racial wealth gaps in Charlotte. He advises on labor market shortages for regional/national economic analysis.

Leadership roles: Co-chair of Heterodox Academy Campus Community at UNC Charlotte and lead facilitator of the Constructive Dialogue Faculty Learning Community. Regular presenter on teaching innovations at academic conferences.
