Matthew Payok

Matthew Payok is an Adjunct Professor at Michigan State University's College of Law. He currently works as an Attorney Specialist in the Michigan Attorney General’s Corporate Oversight Division, specializing in white-collar prosecution and civil litigation. He ranks second in a unit of six prosecutors and contributes to supervisory roles in complex cases.

Research interests include securities fraud, antitrust law, banking and insurance scams, and broader business crime frameworks. His legal expertise intersects with corporate oversight and regulatory enforcement.

Payok has previously held positions as Corporate Counsel for Capitol Bancorp, Ltd., during the Great Recession, and as an associate at Willingham & Cote, P.C., where he focused on medical malpractice defense and civil appeals.
