Matthew Miller is an Associate Professor in Temple University's Department of Theater, part of the School of Theater, Film and Media Arts. He leads the Stage Management Program and heads Theater Education for undergraduate and M.A. programs. His roles include Production Manager for the Center for Performing and Cinematic Arts (2008-2017), and current Technical Director for main stage productions. He teaches courses in stage management, theater pedagogy, and design, while maintaining freelance work as a lighting/scenic designer and Equity stage manager.

Research focuses on theater safety through Safe Makers, a nonprofit he co-founded, and pedagogical innovation. His creative work spans productions in Philadelphia, NYC, San Francisco, Hawaii, and Chile. Notable projects include lighting/design for Liverpuddlian Sleeve (Temple Theater) and scenic design for Mary Poppins (Media Theatre). He also authored the children's book Means of Egrets (2024), promoting safety education.
Professional affiliations include Actors Equity Association, frequent conference presentations (USITT, SETC, ETA), and safety consultations nationwide. Additional ventures include the Alfie/Jackson Duo (musical performances) and home renovation projects blending technical management skills.
