Matthew McCourt

Matthew McCourt is an Associate Professor of Geography at the University of Maine at Farmington. His research focuses on cultural geography, GIS, and community sustainability, particularly through the UMF/Rangeley Sustainability Project funded by the Maine Sustainability Solutions Initiative. He teaches courses on landscape studies, GIS, and globalization.

His research employs participatory mapping, surveys, and GIS tools to study local economies, cultural preservation, and ecological stewardship. McCourt is also developing a book on active learning strategies in North American landscape studies. He collaborates with community partners and presents findings at academic conferences.
