Matthew Lynch is an Associate Professor of Old Testament at Regent College, Vancouver. He joined the faculty in 2020 and was promoted to his current rank in 2022. Previously, he served as Academic Dean and Lecturer in Old Testament at Westminster Theological Centre (2013–2020). Lynch holds an MATS and ThM from Regent College and a PhD from Emory University, with postdoctoral research at the University of Göttingen, Germany.
His research focuses on violence in the Hebrew Bible, monotheism, and the book of Isaiah. He has authored multiple scholarly works, including Flood and Fury: Old Testament Violence and the Shalom of God (2023), First Isaiah and the Disappearance of the Gods (2021), and Portraying Violence in the Hebrew Bible (2020). Lynch is also a co-host of the OnScript podcast.
His academic contributions span biblical theology, literary analysis, and cultural studies of the Hebrew Bible. He actively engages in theological discourse through both scholarly writing and public platforms, emphasizing the intersection of faith and rigorous academic inquiry.
