Matthew Kelley is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology & Health Science at Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS), affiliated with the College of Education and Human Development. He joined LSUS in 2020 and holds a PhD, MPH, and BS from Texas A&M University.

Kelley's research focuses on tobacco harm reduction, environmental exposures, and risk communication. His work explores the impact of combustion-derived particulate matter on respiratory health, persistent free radicals in polluted environments, and biomonitoring in aquatic ecosystems. He teaches courses in Environmental Health, Toxicology, Risk Assessment, and Capstone courses for the Master of Public Health (MPH) program.
His recent publications highlight trends in public health, particularly in risk assessment for vapor-emitting devices and post-COVID physician burnout. Earlier studies address environmental toxicology, including the role of ultrafine particulate matter in inflammation and oxidative stress.
Kelley has contributed to journals such as the Ochsner Journal, Journal of the Louisiana Public Health Association, Particle and Fibre Toxicology, and Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts. He maintains regular office hours for student advising and is actively involved in academic service.
