Matthew Harrington

Matthew Harrington, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of English and Program Coordinator within the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Tennessee at Martin. His academic journey includes roles in teaching and research, focusing on early American literature and related themes.

Dr. Harrington holds a Ph.D. in English from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale (2022), a Master’s in English from Western Illinois University (2016), and a Bachelor’s in English from St. Ambrose University (2014).

His research interests center on the intersections of masculinity and class in early American novels. He explores themes such as gender dynamics, socio-economic class, and their representation in literary works, with a focus on early American and British literature. His work also engages with technical writing pedagogy.
