Matthew Grenby serves as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at Newcastle University since October 2022, leading research and innovation across all campuses (Newcastle, Singapore, Malaysia) while implementing the University's Research Strategy for world-leading discovery and impact.
Appointed Professor of Eighteenth-Century Studies in 2012 after joining as Reader in Children's Literature in 2005, he founded the Newcastle University Humanities Research Institute (2014) and served as Dean of Research and Innovation for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (2018). His academic home remains the School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics.
