Jo Fox is a Professor of Modern History specializing in propaganda, disinformation, and psychological warfare at Newcastle University. She joined in June 2025 as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, bringing extensive leadership experience from Durham University and the Institute of Historical Research.

- Former roles: Durham University (lecturer to first female Head of Department), Director of the Institute of Historical Research, and Pro Vice Chancellor (Research and Public Engagement) at the University of London.
Research Interests: Focuses on disinformation's societal impact, historical propaganda, and psychological warfare. Led AHRC-funded research on Disinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic and contributed to Leverhulme-funded work on the Political Warfare Executive.
Advocacy and Leadership: A vocal champion for humanities, gender equality, and social mobility in higher education. Instrumental in Athena Swan successes and pioneered social mobility initiatives in North East England.
