Matthew Dueppen

Dr. Matthew Dueppen is an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Music Department at Spring Arbor University (SAU). He directs the SAU Concert Band, SAU Jazz Ensemble, and SAU Jazz Cats Combo. His teaching responsibilities include Applied High Brass Lessons, Music History, and Music Education courses. He holds a BA in Music from California State University, Northridge (2008), an MM in Music Education from Lamar University (2017), and a DM in Trumpet Performance from Florida State University (2021).

His research focuses on early baroque trumpet techniques, jazz history/analysis, brass player health, and injury prevention. He actively contributes to the International Trumpet Guild Journal and performs with groups like Eurobrass and Tim Zimmerman and the King's Brass.

Dr. Dueppen's awards include the Golden Key Membership (2021) and Florida State University Teaching Assistant recognition (2018). His professional recordings include Christmas Joy! (2018) and Victory in Jesus (2021). He leads innovative initiatives at SAU, expanding music programs and fostering student growth in both professional and spiritual realms.
