Dr. Matthew A. Collins is a Senior Lecturer in Hebrew Bible and Second Temple Judaism at the University of Chester. He holds a PhD from the University of Bristol (2006) and has taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, focusing on the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, ancient Near Eastern religions, and the Dead Sea Scrolls. His research explores the Qumran Scrolls' academic and popular impact, ancient Israelite religion, and biblical reception in modern media.
Collins co-managed the Encyclopedia of the Bible and its Reception (EBR) project in Berlin (2007–2011) and currently serves as co-chair of the European Association of Biblical Studies (EABS) seminar and series editor for 'Scriptural Traces.' His work bridges academic scholarship and popular culture, analyzing biblical narratives in film, television, and literature.
